Sworn Positions

Lieutenant
The Lieutenant plays a crucial leadership role within the organization, responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining a high standard of performance among team members. This position requires strong decision-making skills, effective communication abilities, and a commitment to fostering a positive work environment. The Lieutenant will serve as a vital link between upper management and operational staff, ensuring that directives are implemented effectively.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of personnel within the department.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency.
- Conduct regular inspections and assessments to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Assign, train and supervise all subordinate custody staff.
- Managing shift schedules.
- Respond to emergencies and critical incidents, making quick decisions to ensure safety.
- Prepare reports on operational performance, incidents, and staff evaluations for management review.
- Oversees the receiving and discharge of all offenders.
- The position acts as the Watch Commander supervising the day-to-day-custody operations of the jail.
- Assume overall responsibility for the operation of the entire jail both administrative and security in the absence of the Captain, Major and Superintendent.
- Any additional duties as directed by the Superintendent or designee.
Experience
- Proven experience in a leadership role within law enforcement or a related field.
- Strong understanding of operational procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
- Experience in crisis management and conflict resolution is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with training methodologies and performance evaluation techniques is an asset.

Pay: $59,475.00 - $83,265.00 per year

Cook
Piedmont Regional Jail is now accepting applications for a Cook. This position is responsible for supervising offender workers at all times in the kitchen, checking and logging temperatures on all cooking equipment, inventory all food as delivered, prepare all employee meals and complete paperwork as required. This is a full-time position with benefits.
